Frost Brown Todd has created a Resource Conservation Committee (the “RCC”), which has developed a mission to address environmental challenges by developing sustainable business practices and a culture of environmental stewardship within the firm. The RCC has developed numerous environmentally sound policies and business practices that promote environmentally responsible behavior, and encourage support for worthy environmental causes. The firm’s offices in Louisville and Cincinnati are both located in Energy Star buildings and it recently signed a long term lease to move into the Great American Tower at Queen City Square in Cincinnati. The Great American Tower is registered for LEED Certification and is being advertised as the most environmentally sensitive building in downtown Cincinnati.

The first company I thought of as YPAL began planning its green initiative this year was PNC Bank. As PNC is now the largest bank in Louisville, this project seemed like a perfect match. PNC has more newly constructed buildings certified by the USGBC than any other company in the world. This includes two of its “Green Branches” right here in Louisville. In 2000, its Firstside Center opened as the nation’s largest corporate building to earn LEED certification. It has opened 70 new “Green Branches” since 2002 alone. We certainly hope to learn more about how PNC Bank has made green building a company-wide priority as we help make green buildings a community-wide priority in Louisville this year.
